2010 Australian Nationals

2010 Mens Development Team
GNZ sent a men's development team to the Australian Nationals in 2010 and though the results on paper did not look that good the team had great moments on court and got very close at times to giving them Aussies a real surprise. Troy Ramsay has provided this summary of hte trip.

New Zealand sent a development team to the Australian Nationals in Brisbane in October 2010.  There were five mens team competing with the Queensland team the hot favourites.

The New Zealand team consisted of Hamish Tahana, Logan Valk, Sean Edwards, Dylan Neale, Gary Williamson and coach Troy Ramsay.

The first day NZ faced a strong NSW team and lost 11-5.  The second game was against an inexperienced Western Australia and although at times NZ looked like taking it out they went down 15-10. The second day saw NZ come up against the raining champs the Queenslanders and unfortunately went down 10-0. Looking to make a stronger showing in their final game against the Victorians, NZ put up a big fight eventually losing the battle 13-9.

Queensland went on to take out the final against NSW. This was the first opportunity for most of the NZ team to get some international goalball experience and was a great opportunity for them to test themselves against some very good Aussie goalballers.
